Enjoy what you see
McDowell family pictures from 1915-2019.

A great variety of pictures of the McDowell Family.
All ages, many people and easy to see.

Maybe she will feed me while she is laughing.
Her show of happiness helped all of us.

1961, thus our daughter-Susan-was in her third year.
My mother is helping to prepare food with my family.
She is NOT on the far right.

As a guess this might be aound 1956.

This was February 1932. I was a year and 3 days old and was helping my parents by then,
I betcha I was a GREAT help.

This was an enjoyable day around the water.
Kathleen and I wanted to paddle to England
but we were told that would take three or four days,

  Mother's Day:1962, the children were about 3 and 5.
Susan was most likely doing the laundry and Alan the dishes by then,
Poor Kathleen had so little to do.

Susan was approaching 1 years young.
My father had a year + left.
The picture was taken in front of McD Ford.
I wish Alan had also been in the picture.

My father's mother, Nellie Barbour McDowell,
She lived in Cedar Rapids,Iowa and had a beauty shop in her home,
I visited her there several times,
She is the only gradnmother I ever knew
as my mother's mother died very close to the time I was born.

I liked building card houses of all kinds, way back when.
The highest tower I ever built was about six feet tall.

Isn't this a very good picture? I must remember to ask Alan a question,
"I notice a lot of your pictures around this date you are wearing a bow tie.
Was this your idea? I do like the look,"

This is the 1915 photo.
Father was about 12 years old, my aunt Mona a little bit younger.
He had two life time ambitions, One to be a new car dealer and he achieved that just after WWII
The other to own and fly an airplane. He did that aslo for about a year.
He worked very hard to accomplish his goals.
I worked part time at his Nash dealership in Akron while in High School, and summers while at OSU and
full time at the Ford dealership in Wadsworth until he died at age 57.

Pictures taken in 1913 and 1944
I spent about two hours with my grandather during my lifetime.

My Mother
I may have learned something while posting
this picrure. On the back of this picture Photo outfit printed Roberto Capri
I have heard mother talk about The Isle of Capri, even sing the song
but I never dreamed she was there or that she was even in Europe.
Did I miss what went on in her early life?
Well not too early she is not a child in this flying picture.
That chair looks fun to be in.

I guess it is time to create another file. This one is getting too long.
